The Invention:

Method to Fabricate Nafion/Polyimide blend Ionic polymer-metal composite (IPMC) in order to alter and improve the mechanical and thermal properties of Nafion during severe conditions all while maintaining its electromechanical performance.

Benefits:

  • Nafion can be used in high working temperatures of up to 120°C
  • Nafion has high ion conductivity
  • Polyimide has excellent mechanical and thermal properties which can improve that of Nafion
  • Method can reduce cost in fabrication and can easily be fabricated

Market Opportunity:

According to Fact.MR: The global market for Nafion is expected to hit $812M in the year 024 and projected to reach 1.4B during 2034. This being said , there is an anticipated 5.6% CAGR over the course of the next ten years.

Nafion can be used in a number of ways such as chemistry, electrochemical cells, electrolytic devices and more, which increase the demand for Nafion for the years to come.
